Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for PS3
Modern Warfare 2 is rated the number one game of 2010, in addition to the highest selling PS3 game. The game received a 94% total aggregate on Metacritic. Less than 24 hours after the game was released, it sold a staggering 4.7 million copies. By March the game sold 14 million copies, making it the highest selling game of all time.
Modern Warfare 2 broke records world-wide even though the publisher decided to charge £10 more than the recommended retail price. The storyline starts off, casting the player as members of Task Force 141; a team of armed rangers attempting to take down a Russian terrorist.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PS3
Coming just behind in second position is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, selling 4.65 million copies
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue consists of a series of races, unlocking events and earning credits to purchase superior cars. There are 30 events to unlock, ranging from beginner to professional level. The game commences with each player receiving 30,000 credits, which is sufficient to buy a basic car such as a Mini Cooper 2006, Citroen C4 2005, Ford Focus 2006, Honda Integra 2004 or the Mazda RX-8 2007.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for PS3
Selling 3.5 million copies within a few weeks, Uncharted 2 is definitely a favorite among gaming enthusiasts.
The storyline commences approximately one year after the events of the first game. Nate and fellow thieves try to find Marco Polo’s lost treasure, as the adventure takes the crew around the world. Nate and friends deal with a lot during the adventures, so the storyline definitely keeps any gaming fanatic reeled in.
MotorStrom for PS3
Selling 3.31 million copies, MotorStorm will be an exciting adventure for racing game fans.
The game comes alive when caught up in the hustle and bustle of a pack of vehicles, where everyone is pushing their opponents off the nearest cliff. No matter how much the same lap of a race is completed, players will experience new cars and accidents along the track each time. Players can chose from a variety of vehicles, each having various strengths and weaknesses.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3
Rounding off the list at number five is Metal Gear Solid 4, selling 3.0 million copies. A great compilation of storytelling and realistic audiovisuals make Metal Gear Solid 4 a favorite.
The game features an aging “Solid Snake” placed in a futuristic set. Snake is equipped with a high-tech suit known as the “OctoCave”, which transforms its texture based on Snake’s surroundings. The suit allows Snake to blend into the surrounding environment. The highly anticipated game expects the return of familiar rivals such as Revolver Ocelot, Meryl Silverburgh, Naomi Hunter and Raiden.
